Liquid latex is a very versatile and easy to find material, which makes it ideal for simple special effects makeup. But different brands and different types give different results, and today we will look at the clear liquid latex and what it is best used for.
The formula is thin and dries very quick, and that makes it ideal for simple prosthetics. So you can either sculpt a piece and stipple the latex in thin layers on or make a mold and slush it or brushing thin layers into the mold.
The formula can be used on the face, and mixed with one bit thicker latex it can create a lot more realistic effects, but I would use a thicker latex on the face or to set wax as it's very fragile due to the thinness, so you would need a lot of build up and use a massive amount of time.
This is also good for a wrinkle stipple as the thin formula prevents the wrinkles to get unrealistically deep and because it dries so fast.
All in all this is a great product and it's just in time for halloween season, if you're planning on making something that requires liquid latex prosthetics I would suggest getting this.
You can get in at your local retailer or at kryolans offical site in various sizes. I got 1000 ml here but the 100 one costs 9.75$.

Thank you, it was just one quick coat of latex and powder actually, glad you found it helpful!
DeleteThanks, and sure, you mean google plus?
ReplyDeleteThis product does really sound great for stage and film makeup but I am sure that it also comes down to individual talent and clearly you are very talented because these winkles are very convincing.

Of course understanding how wrinkles work helps a lot, but it's still a great even without the understanding as well :)
