February Favorites

It's a new month and that means wrapping up the favorites for February, who flew by. It's weird how one less day in a month makes it seem so small, but really there is 24 hours less then most other months.

Kjære by Linnéa Myhre
If you don't know how to read norwegian you won't be able to read this book (Which is why I haven't done a review of it) but this is the sequel to Myhres first book "Evig søndag" where the writer describes her thoughts, observations and life as an anorectic. Myhre is a former Norwegian blogger, now transformed into a writer.
I must admit, I didn't enjoy the first book that much, since it didn't describe much in depth and the content seemed superficial. But I had heard people rave about this book and it has received quite a lot of stars on goodreads, so I decided to give the sequel a shot.
The second book is very well written, witty and propped with dark humor. The book is structured with a series of letters to different people including a tex-mex brand, her psychiatrist, her mother, her friends, her bird and many more. In these letters she portrays her anxiety, mental issues, social issues and how anorexia has followed her. You get a sense on how she thinks and it's format reminds me a of a blog post. A fresh breath in literature and it's short length made this an easy read and I finished it in a day.

Bones on Netflix
I've binged watched this whenever I could, I live by myself so when I eat, sculpted or cleaned this show was on in the background at all times. I haven't been watching that much netflix until the last week as I've handed in my special topic for this year, but until tomorrow I'm on winters break. *SPOILER ALERT SEASON 3* I absolutely hated the fact that Zack was the new apprentice, but it did make a lot of sense. He was so cold and calculating, the same mindset sociopaths is portrayed in TV shows. Plus it didn't make any sense that it would have been Hodgins, first of it would have been too easy since he's a paranoid conspiracy-er. And second, in a previous episode him and Dr. Brennan is buried alive, if he was capable of murder, he'd kill Brennan already then and got himself more hours to live. In some twisted way, I wished Zack didn't get caught just yet and have a longer dialog about why he did it. I swear the show "Dexter" has absolutely fucked up my mind.

Sí Giorgio Armani
A gorgeous deep elegant scent, I wrote a post about it earlier. I've been wearing this religiously this last month and have really fallen in love with the smell. I was quite lucky and got a discontinued gift set with the full size perfume and a decent sized scented bodylotion, so I was lucky as the price is quite steep.

Meghan Trainor
An artist I haven't listened to very much in the past, I recently re-discovered after "All about that bass", when I heard her song "love you like I'm gonna lose you"  ft. John Legend. It's completely in my aisle who loves the genre soul. I must admit I preferred it with a Lana Del Rey like voice on the Norwegian version of Idol, but it's such gorgeous lyrics I don't really care who wrote it.

MAC Cremebase "Luna"
I know summer is the regular time for a dewy finish, but with the glowing trend that's been going on I've packed on my creambase extra this month and added it even when I've done the lightest of makeup. Only combined with foundation, brows and mascara and it has even then given my face that little extra. What I love about this is the product doesn't look powdery at all and gives of a wet look when applied with your hands. I add this together with my NARS Sheer glow foundation and my face looks healthy and gorgeous!

What are your favorites this month?

January favorites 2016

It's that time of the month again, favorites posts are coming. I hope you like the selection of items I found especially lovable in the start of my 2016!

Inglot Freedom system blush "20"
This muddy pink blush gives a nice subtle blush and freshen up the face from looking dead, without make you look exhausted or stressed. I love combining this with white strong highlight and contouring because the subtle color compliments it so well, you can see it used together in my Electric clubbing makeup tutorial.

New Yorker Slim black sweatpants
This is my best investment I've done probably this year, they're so comfy, but still nice enough to wear to school and doing studiowork, where I want to be comfortable, and as far as SFX goes it get dirty and gritty so I usually end up ruining all my nice pants if I don't dress appropriately.

Decléor Exfoliating body cream
I've finally found an exfoliating cream that actually works wonders and are gritty enough to suit dry winter skin. My skin feels great after wearing this and it smells like a home spa, I could not ask for much more.

Feeling myself by Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé

I may be late to the party, but this song has gone on repeat on my list the entire of January. I love female rappers and its so inspiring how cool Nicki actually is, she's not trying to be one of the boys, she's just a just as cool gal'!

Gift guide for the young adult girl

Again with the gift guide this year, and I devote this to any young female, because I picked things I would want to receive or give to my friends. To start off with the first picture a cute mug is perfect as an ad-on if your main gift isn't quite big enough or a small gift for a colleague or a friend. The other is for the girl who loves quotes and Coco will never go out of style. Personalize it by giving them a quote that suits them as a person, frame it (Maybe make a chic DIY) out of it and bam you got yourself a cool personalized gift.
Next up is a Lush bathbomb if the person has a tub, or get them something else from the large range of bathroom products. Most girls, especially young ones will appreciate a self care product. And you can go budget with just a bath bomb for $5, buy a set or pick some items out. Make the person you're gifting a little gift box. Next is scarfs, be careful on this one, it's the perfect gift for someone who likes to wear scarfs but wasted if they never wear it. And make sure you get a exchange patch with it so that the person receiving can change colors. But in the cold winter months it's always nice to have a nice thick long scarf around the neck. You can get one from most stores, the Acne ones are very used here in Norway. Jewlery is also a classic gift. Again like the scarfs, make sure to get the exchange patch and that the person actually uses jewelry. Diamond looking earrings is always nice to have, pearls are also a nice addition to any collection. Personally I love unique jewelry so if you're dealing with a tumblr girl a geode necklace or crystal pendant can be a very beautiful gift! Lastly a cheeky or sassy t-shirt or sweater that matches the person is a fun and cute gift that will probably actually be used.

That was all for today, I hope you liked my gift guide and I'll see you again tomorrow!

November Favorites

We're in the last month of December and you know what that means, it's time to wrap up the favorites from November! I hope you like this months wintry feel and find some inspiration.

Lush bah humbug
If you haven't guessed it I've been significantly more to lush during autumn. I've tried yog nog bath bomb and soap, the Bah Humbug bath bubbler, twilight bathbomb, sakura bathbomb and pop in the bath. Out of all of them the one I was the most skeptical of  was the bah humbug, but once I dissolved this under the tap I quickly realized my suspicion towards the smell had no reasoning. It smelled like heaved to me. It ended up being my favorite so far. The color in this bubble bar was the strongest I've seen so far in lush and it made quite a lot of bubbles. I will be sure to pick a couple of this up before the Christmas range is gone for this year,

Hunter green scarf
It's freezing in my classroom, and also outside for that matter, so I haven't walked outside the door this November without a scarf around my neck and as long as it hasn't been in the washer this is the one I went for.

NewYorker Sweater
I was given this in the middle of the month and I've worn it almost every singe day. It's so soft and warm, and the design really reminds me of Christmas which is right around the corner.
Lush cuticle cream
I've used my lush cuticle cream significantly more this cold and dry month. My hands have cracked up so often I keep this in my school backpack and apply it each morning. The smell of lemons also wake me up.

Joico liquid protection spray
Breaking news to anyone with naturally dry, big and curly hair, a product that works more then a day. Anyone  with natural curls and dry hair knows the struggle of winter. You use hydrating and anti frizz products, it holds for a couple of hours and then your hair rebels. I've started spraying this in my hair after drying it with a cloth and again in the morning after. All the frizz lays down until next shower. So I have been loving this, but it's clearly aimed at girls with dry hair since it weights the hair down a lot.

Joico intense repair
Again, good to strengthen naturally dry hair or chemically treated hair. Almost all of my bleached hair has grown out so I don't see tremendous results in repair. But it does help keep my hair soft and more friction resistant which I appreciate.

October favorites

Bodum travel cup
The weather is getting colder and I love to bring with me my travel mug with warm apple tea, a black coffee or if I'm feeling extra cozy a latte maccchiato from my tassimo machine, mmm..

Student calendar and blog notebook
These babies has really helped me plan and organize my days and blog posts. I write down the title of my post in my student calendar or straight out what I'm writing about to remember months in advance and add a better title after writing out the post. And in my blog notebook I write down the posts I have more text in. I feel like writing things down instead of typing on a machine helps my create process.

The color burgundy
I've been loving this color in this entire month, the deep wine color is one of those that makes me think about autumn, cozy nights and hot drinks with friends. Also for my neutral cold skin tone burgundy is one of the few autumn shades I can wear without looking dead.

L`oreal smoothing lotion
As the autumn weather makes my hair go extremely frizzy, so my hair oil from Moroccan oil hasn't done a good enough job to de-frizz my mane. And the L'oreal smoothing lotion is a hardcore de-frizz potion, so I turn to this whenever my Moroccan oil fail me.

Matched by Ally Condie
I got the whole trilogy on a book sale, I had been wanting to read this since finishing the Divergent series as I heard it was a similar theme. I am half way through and it's getting very exiting already. I've heard both good and bad about the trilogy, especially the second and third book so I wanted to read them and see for myself.

Makeup brush cleaning spray from the pro hygiene collection
As you've seen by my sporadic updates and me warning beforehand I've been crazy busy with clients all week, and this spray saved my butt. Of course I deep cleaned the brushes I used liquid product on. But the truth is that there is not as strict hygiene about powder brushes when I learned about this in school as powders doesn't carry bacteria as much as liquids (Also why the expiring date is much later). This spray does contain 99% isopryl alcohol meaning that it will disinfect bacterias off liquid makeup as well, but the colors would be left. Therefore I still deep cleaned my foundation brush between each client. I sprayed this between clients on my eyeshadow brushes and to disinfect brushes before I dip them back into the pot.

August favorites

It's the end of another month and that means sharing our montly favorites! Here is a list of the things I've been loving this month, I would love to hear your favorites!

The body shop Love Africa scrub
I've been using this once a week since I got it now and it helps my skin feel smoother and less drying. And my tan has become quite even and didn't flake off instantly, and that is always a plus.

Olive green tee
I have been wearing this t-shirt all over august. We haven't had good weather in Trondheim this summer, but suddenly it hit us and we're at 27 Celsius now, so wearing anything but t-shirts and shorts is unbearable. I love how this shirt is so soft that I feel like I'm wearing PJ's!

ELF Cosmetics bronzer and blusher duo
Along with the nice weather I've been wanting to look more toasted as well, and this duo transitions beautifully so we can all fake being a glowing goddess.

Bdellium tools small stipple brush
This little thing is very handy to build up your concealer without using your hands or blending it out too much. I've also used it to to create a realistic skin effect by stippling multiple layers of alcohol activated makeup.

Kiss xocosmetics lip balm "see through rouge"
I am dependent on lip balm and in periods where the weather is super dry I can't wear lipstick either, so to switch up to this is pretty amazing. We all look a bit more put together when we're wearing lipstick. The formula is pretty opaque and gives a proper red lip as well as working as a lip balm, which is very unusual for a lip balm.

Weekly loves♥

It's been a while since I did a "sharing is caring" post, and I wanted to update you one some favorites this week that wasn't products or things I could have in my monthly favorites. So I hope you like this post!

Instagram

The account Norusosaa on instagram is really inspiring and her pictures are so beautiful, if you're looking to get inspired I would definitely follow this girl on instagram. She usually posts beautiful product pictures and sometimes she has mini-reviews. Whenever I see her posts I really want to blog and write products reviews myself, and of course I want all the products, haha!

Blog
For the Norwegian readers, I've gotten hooked on Styleconnection.blogg.no, her pictures are amazing and so inspiring. Crazy and fun colored, so it always put's me in a good mood! I actually got the idea of "weekly" out of her blog!

Reader

As I am growing a more frequent audience I want to treat my most active readers with a shout-out. This weeks it's Abigail Alice from abigailalicex.com. She's been so active in the comment section and it really warms my heart when my readers are active! ♥
Her blog is a super-stylish and with a clean design, "tubmlr" styled. Just coming into her home-page just makes you want to read her blog! She writes about beauty, fashion, personal and travel and most people can read it, as her blog is in English.

Song
Cold hearted snake from Glee song by the Character Santana Lopez/actor Naya Rivera has been playing in my ears constantly on repeat these last days. I heard it first in Glee a little while ago and I felt like it was such a sexy fun song that fits perfect when you're bored cleaning at home!

Series
I've gotten hooked on Grays anatomy this week, and I might have mentioned this, but I like to watch series when I do special effects, especially things like making latex bald caps as they require a lot of waiting, and I am already on season 2 #noshame

Downer
I literally broke my microwave when I was heating up butter for dinner, it exploded.. So no I have to get a new one or else my sculpting will suffer.. Ups..

Wanderlust
I've been dreaming about miles of white beaches, sex on the beach drinks, bikinis and wind in my hair this entire week. I am usually one for discovering different parts of the world, but the insane bad weather this summer in Norway really bit me with a beach bug..

July favourites

This is reasonably late, but it's only 5th of August, so I'm here with my July favorites, what are your favorites? Leave some of them below if you'd like!

Sunglasses from Gina Tricot
I've been craving a pair of chic sun-glasses, but I'm saving for my future/school, business and a new computer (My old broke, I'm using my school computer), so my wallet didn't allow any luxurious buy. But I found these and I fell in love with them! They're so stylish and neat and the perfect combo with a minimalistic outfit!

Cafe latte
I am no stranger to cafe latte, and I had this all the time in summer, especially in London. I drink my unsweetened though, so I didn't get a lot of sugar in my body luckily!

Currency converter
Again, very practical to find out what I am spending from my budget since my bank shows NOK and when you pay with pounds it can sometimes be a bit confusing.

The midnight rose by Lucinda Riley
I finished this mid-July on my vacation to England, I didn't have much time to read on my actual visit, but I read a lot on the journey to and from. This is such a feel good book, although it's the same setup it is a complete different story then her other books which I like. Perfect for summer! I may be doing a more in debt review on this at some point, but for now I feel like I've reviewed enough of Lucinda Riley's books for a long time.

Travel perfume
This handy little thing let's me bring my favorite perfume everywhere, I picked this up at the airport and I used it a lot when I stayed at my dads place. It's actually pretty smart to have this, because then you don't risk your expensive perfume all over the suitcase when you're travelling.

Nars sheer glow foundation
I've already reviewed it in debt here. But it really saved me, I've been getting outbreaks from my last foundation although the color was nice, it was just my skin reacting to some of the products in the formula. But when I got this I was so happy as I could walk into IMATS with a nice clean face and have this on late summer nights.

Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion
I got my primer at Selfridges and I've been using it almost everyday when I've worn foundation. I forgot it once underneath my foundation and I hated the feel and look without it. I am truly hooked!
I like to apply it, then brew my morning coffee and continue once it's set.

Moonshine

Moonstone, my inspiration for a upcoming series

Ring from Lom in Norway

I got this ring as a present from my mom  earlier this summer and I love it. Moonstones really fascinates me and looks otherworldly to me, so I was really inspired to do some looks inspired by this stone!

It's the end of the month so I was really supposed to upload my favorites, but my fish brain forgot my camera charger where I'm doing some film work and she won't be back until two weeks from now if it's there or else it disappeared on the way home. I'm just hoping that it's there or else it would suck, but that's life.

So I had to use a post I wasn't expecting to use for a while as I didn't have any battery. Luckily my friends and I's chargers match so I got to borrow hers on Monday, therefore I may have a little bit too much phone pictures these next two days and there wont be any videos up until I have found my charger. Anyhow, I just wanted to mention it as it will affect my blogging.

June favourites

June is already over and you know what that means, favorite posts all over the blogging community!

Dreamdays countdown app

I've been looking at this non stop the last month before summer vacation as I was so buzzed about finishing this year. And it kept me motivated when I came up in exams and had bad days. I just looked at how little time was left of the hard work and was relieved when I compared it to the 180 other schooldays I'd already been through. And I also have a countdown to my trip to London for IMATS this year, so I've been super exited for that as well.

My makeup forever black eye shadow

I bought this when I was in France, but haven't reached all that much after it until now as I got a perfectly good black in my naked basics palette and only used this when I wanted really intense eyes. But recently I started some experimenting with all the makeup I own and I fell in love with it again. I was sure when I bought it, it is the perfect matte true black eyeshadow, it's just that it was convenient to use the one that came with the palette.  But I promised myself I would start experimenting more on a daily basis.

My life saving naked basics palette

Speaking of the naked basics palette, I've also used this non stop as I'm getting into the routine of doing more makeup then brows and mascara at school, and I needed some shadows that are easily blend-able, quick and convenient for my everyday makeup. Only change is that I've accompanied it with more of my MF black eyeshadow and my vice 2 palette.

Sunscreen

Summer is here and although you are supposed to wear sunscreen every day all year round I'm not too good at keeping that up. But in early june I went ahead and got a small facial sunscreen to keep in my purse so I remember to apply it and have a bigger one for the body at home. It's so important to take care of your skin, and sunscreen will not only prevent future sundamage and wrinkles, but also protect the skin from cancer.

Glee

I watched all through season 1,2 and 3 through June, so I guess you could say I'm a bit obsessed! I don't know why I haven't watched it before, I saw the pilot episode one sunday at a norwegian tv channel and looked it up on netflix.

My favourite horror movie character looks

I'm sorry I didn't post these last two days and that I don't have another look for you guys today. Life caught up and I didn't have time to post anything- And today light beat my time, so instead I'll give you some tips and inspiration. As a special effects artist horror movies and dark series are a must to watch sometimes, the characters have some amazing and inspiring works. And if you want to scare the crap out of people on halloween, also safe looks to recreate. Now here are my favourite horror character looks, based on the appearance and not on the movie or acting it self.

1. The Ring Samara

The Ring was one of the first horror films I ever watched, and though the plot is blurry I remember Samara crystal clear. The look of her is both terrifying and a perfect base for different looks like zombies and witches! Since Samara's look is so versatile and at the same time so recognizable it's worth a place on nr. 1 for me.

2. Saw

Saw is such a easy, yet effective look. If I ever went to a halloween party with bad time, I'd crack some lenses in and put on my Saw look. His sweet dolly cheeks and red lips looks twisted and disturbing.

3. The scarecrow (Messengers 2)

Another look that would most people wet their pants if this bad boy came behind you on a dark night. Of course this character is probably CGI, it's still possible to make a mask of this look.

5. An american werewolf in London

A movie I have yet to see myself, but I've seen a lot of makeup works from the movie, this is definitely on my to-see list.

6. Freddy (A nightmare on Elm Street)

A burn victim with gross cheese skin, can it get any better for the horror lovers?

7. The fly

This is the kind of look I'm torn between, "Wow that's amazing!" and "Ew, Ew, Ew, Ew-". The fly is another movie where I've seen the work of the makeup artist, but not the actual movie.

Of course these are all quite classic movies, and most have seen them before, but part of why horror movies become classics often depend on the quality of the makeup and other visual elements. And there is tons of different looks that are amazing, both in horror and lots of other genres but these where the ones I came up with for now!
See you tomorrow with a new look!

What have I been loving? March favourites 2015

March is already coming to an end! Isn't it crazy how fast time flies by.. It's less then 80 days until I finish hairdressing school and less then 100 until I am going to IMATS.. Oh jeez..
These are my favourites for March, I haven't really found much favourites this month as I have been really busy with school and such. But I am getting into a more inspiring period so I'll probably have more in April.

Omega 3 and multivitamin

Okay so I did write a post about "hair update" where I mentioned I used multivitamins and that my hair growth lately has been quite fast. And since I've been good and taken my vitamins every day through March I though I would share the two different ones I take.
I always take 3 Omega-3 tablets as recommended on the back. Scientists are unsure of how much omega-3 you should take, but at least 3 mg. So I still take these even if I am eating fish that day.
And I am taking multivitamin which contains most essential vitamins we need during the day.
If you are not on a super diet and eat every vitamin you need during the day, multivitamins are a great option to make sure you get all.

Rosè dye

I recently dyed my ombrè in a rosé colour, although a lot of the pink faded fast, it's still a cold steel colour in the ends, and it makes my hair look interesting.

Bloglovin

I've definitely been using bloglovin a lot this month and makes it really easy to keep track on posts I want to remember and blogs I like.
Here is my account, or click in the corner if you want to subscribe.

Grimas facepaint

After an intense month with working out kids face paints, of course my trust worthy Grimas face paints reach my March favourites. I have found per now these are the best face paints for me. I haven't tried too many, but these ones are the most available to me and with such good quality they're essential in my kit.

Urban Decay Vice 2 palette

I have again started using this palette. For the longest time I've been stuck with my Naked basics palette, but as times get lighter I feel more inspired to do makeup in the morning and not sleeping so long.

These were my favourites for March, do you have any favourite products this month?

February favourites 2015

The orchid house by Lucinda Riley

I've been obsessing over this book on my blog this entire month, so if you're curious about this book, check out my review here.
I couldn't put it down when I started reading it and it took a huge chunk of my winter break.

Fast shampoo and condtioner

I finally got proper results from the Fast shampoo and conditoner, I needed to take a break due to dryness but I'm soon back on track.
Review here

Ben nye Scar effects gel

This probably only interest very few of you, but I love my new Ben Nye Scar effects gel I got from Visage. It's so easy to create burns with and I started to get a hang of it for wounds. I haven't actually tried it for scars yet, but I'll try it soon!

Ahava all in one toning cleanser

I've been loving this. It's perfect, approved for sensitive skin, allergy friendly. and a multi-use product. Plus it smells amazing, it pretty much smells like how I image the dead ocean and spa.
I love it because it's eye and face suitable, pore minimizing and for someone who doesn't have a lot of skin problems a simple solution to minimize night routines.

70's style coat

I got myself two new coats for spring, one of which is more blazer type, but so long it's still a coat.
I was supposed to take an outfit shot with this, but I am currently allergy testing and my back looks like a robot, so to keep it from lifting to a minimum it's taped down and I got told to sit down and watch TV, haha.
Coat from Only, size 34
